Frequently Asked Questions
Freezing a Hard Drive
Your hard drive failed. You read online that the first thing to try is to freeze it. This should never be done. Freezing creates condensation inside of the drive, making the drive potentially unrecoverable.
Clicking Hard Drive
If your hard drive started to click, turn it off immediately and call us. Do not attempt suggestions you may read online. Hard drives click due to either a mechanical or electrical issues. That does not get fixed unless it is done by experienced professionals, using special tools and proper environment.
Opening a Hard Drive
Occasionally we see clients who feel curious and advantageous. They open the drive at home to see what can be fixed. This leads to a disk platter contamination and potentially unrecoverable drive. Hard drives must be opened in a special environment by experienced professionals only. If your data is important to you, do not experiment with your hard drive by attempting to open it hoping to find that loose part that can be put in place and fix the drive.
